Success Story: THORNTON provides years of reliable operation in mobile water systems

The relationship between GE Mobile Water and Mettler-Toledo Thornton continues to contribute to reliable sourcing of deionized water for the power industry
With the 770MAX multiparameter instrument, GE Mobile Water can obtain high purity conductivity, total organic carbon and flow measurements on a single instrument. This allows more measurement parameters to fit into less panel space.

GE Mobile Water, Inc. - Water for emergency treatment
GE Mobile Water, Inc., (formerly Ecolochem, Inc.), a part of GE Infrastructure, Water and Process Technologies, essentially created the mobile water treatment industry to serve the power industry with emergency pure water. To handle the rough service of tractor trailer-mounted systems while providing precise ultrapure water measurements, GE chose THORNTON 770-series instrumentation more than a dozen years ago and they continue to use it today. GE recognized the need for emergency pure water sources at power plants when in-house treatment systems were taken out of service for any reason. The high cost of plant shutdowns for lack of water could be avoided by use of a mobile water system which could be quickly delivered and operated on a temporary basis.

Accuracy and rugged design - no contradiction with THORNTON 770
To provide a reliable backup high purity water source, GE required instrumentation that was both rugged and accurate. The entire systems had to be able to stand up to the thousands of miles traveled back and forth on bumpy roads between power plant sites and the regeneration centers. The instruments also had to have an industry-accepted reputation for traceable calibration and accuracy to eliminate any cause for argument about water purity……
