Picking the right number of parts or components in a multi-customer warehouse isn’t easy. Thousands of articles must be reached in a short time. Piece-counting must be accurate and 100 percent reliable when parts are critical for your customers' production or when they will be shipped overseas. Also, the final shipping weight plays a role since it determines freight costs. ICS piece-counting scales and the BBA231 from the IND Basics portfolio are a proven combination to make your warehouse processes more efficient and secure.

Be mobile

When picking in a warehouse, speed is key. Orders come in and must be processed as fast as possible. Battery-powered scales with a wireless connection can be easily moved to the remotest places in your warehouse. No transport to a counting station necessary. This enables speedy operation and saves labor at the same time.

Get the data

It does not matter in what way you receive your orders. ICS5 scales make it easy for you to start picking right away. Recall an article from the internal database or simply attach a barcode reader to the scale. The article parameters, such as name, warehouse shelf and target count appear immediately. Save information for up to 5,000 articles in the scale or use an external database to store up to 30,000 records. Transfer the data via Ethernet, USB or WLAN. You can also get your orders directly from the ERP or Warehouse Management System. ICS5 can be connected to your IT infrastructure easily for fail-safe data transfer. To be on the safe side, in case of customer complaints, you can save the scale's weighing alibi memory on your hard drive.

Pick the right quantity

To pick the right number of different parts under time pressure, ICS5 can help you in various ways. The database tells the user which article to pick. User-prompts guide the user through every step of the counting procedure. They make sure the counting procedure is performed in the right way and human errors in reference- taking, for example, are reduced. The colorWeight® function tells you when the right number of parts is picked. Reduce over- or under-filling significantly.

Determine package weight

Finally, you have to verify the packages' total weight to check if all packages are included and to determine possible freight costs. Depending on your shipping mode, that can make a huge difference for the success of your operation. For simple weighing operations, you can use the BBA231, a reliable and rugged basic weighing scale. This final check not only secures your quality, but also ensures you don’t lose money to freight companies.
