Bio fuels are rapidly gaining importance. New application brochure offers selected methods for bio ethanol and bio diesel analysis
Bio fuels have to comply with strict quality control standards, as – for example – excessive water or chloride content can lead to engine damage. Therefore, bio fuel manufacturers together with institutes such as ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) or DIN (German Institute for Standardization) have established a set of standard procedures, which govern the use of analytical methods and instruments.
METTLER TOLEDO has prepared an application brochure with procedures, methods and results to explain some of the important analyses such as:
- Water content in B100 bio diesel or E85 bio ethanol
- Acid number of B100 bio diesel or E85 bio ethanol
- Density of bio fuels
- Refractive index of glycerol
- Iodine value
METTLER TOLEDO offers a unique range of analytical instruments for these tests:
- Density meters · Refractometers
- pH meters
- General titrators
- Karl Fischer titrators
All of these instruments have been specifically designed to support the analytical process. Operation is possible even by unskilled operators thanks to the instruments’ unsurpassed ease of use and compliance with all the relevant quality standards is guaranteed.
