Maltodextrins are easily digestible carbohydrates that are widely used as food additives. They find general application as binders, stabilizers, thickening agents and inhibitors in the production of foodstuffs. Besides this, they serve as a source of energy in nutritional beverages and high-energy and isotonic drinks for athletes and people engaged in sport. Maltodextrins are usually supplied as spray-dried powders. Their sensibility to moisture and therefore their storage stability can be checked using a TGA Sorption Analyzer.
