How to Avoid Out-of-Specification Results

Over 50% of out-of-specification (OOS) results in analytical workflows are reportedly caused by sample processing and operator errors. Using automated Gravimetric Sample Preparation and following the Good Weighing Practice™ (GWP®) can help reduce data variability and OOS results. Find out about the benefits of Gravimetric Sample Preparation compared to traditional volumetric methods.
Green Chemistry - Reducing sample sizes using automated dosing

An extensive amount of waste is generated by sample preparation methods in analytical laboratories. Samples are usually prepared in 50ml or 100ml volumetric flasks, and even if several injections are made, only 100 µl of solution may be required. This means that more than 99.9% of prepared solutions are disposed of without ever being used.
1 in 2 OOS results can be avoided with gravimetric sample preparation

Out-of-Specification (OOS) investigations in analytical R&D and QA/QC laboratories are costly and time-consuming.
Adhere to Accreditation Standards in Forensic Labs

Weighing performance has a great impact in forensic labs. The performance of the balances, and especially the minimum weight, influence compliance with standards and can have adverse results on lawsuits. We have therefore developed Good Weighing Practice, a recommendation guideline to guarantee accurate weighing results.

Gravimetric Sample Preparation Uses Less Substance

Typically 99% of prepared stock solutions are disposed of without being used. With Quantos QLB automated liquid dispensing modules for XP balances it is now possible to prepare sample solutions in any target container gravimetrically. Sample sizes can be scaled down by up to 90%, reducing solvent usage and waste, and volumetric flasks are no longer required.
Easy Sample Preparation on Existing Balances

Weighing to low target weights can be time consuming, error prone and sometimes hazardous. New Quantos dispensing modules for powder and liquid can be added to new or existing XP Analytical Balances. This allows easy sample and standard preparation without the need for spatulas, weighing papers or volumetric flasks.
Automated Bottling of Peptides Increases Lab Productivity

Peptides play a key role in the growing segment of biopharmaceuticals. Used in small quantities, bottling takes a lab technician a lot of time and overfilling can be very costly. The combination of Quantos with an autosampler offers the ideal solution to the bottling problem: once the substance to be filled is loaded into the Quantos dosing head, 30 target vessels can be dosed with highest accuracy without user interaction, even with different target weights.
Automated Powder Dosing Increases Accuracy

Weighing as few as 10 mg of powder with high precision is a challenge even for experienced hands. With QUANTOS, dosing to the target weight is up to 20 times faster than with a spatula. The compact dosing system from METTLER TOLEDO makes dosing easy: touch “Start” in the dosing head and QUANTOS doses to your target weight.
Quantos wins R&D100 Award

METTLER TOLEDO has been awarded the coveted "R&D 100 Award" for QUANTOS™, a global innovation which automatically doses small amounts of free-flowing substances directly into the tare container—making weighing with a spatula a thing of the past.
Automated Dosing System Wins LabAutomation Award

METTLER TOLEDO Quantos Dosing System QB1 wins the New Product Award 2009 from the Association of Laboratory Automation. Among dozens of laboratory products introduced each year, the world's first benchtop system for automatically dispensing small sample quantities of powders was acknowledged the best.
Automated Powder Dosing Simplifies Catalyst Weighing

Novalyst is a leading specialist in organic synthesis and chemistry research outsourcing. The company uses its Mercator Cartography System (MCS) to systematically collect experimental data in order to provide a better understanding of reactivity and selectivity criteria. Discover how the Quantos automated powder dosing system helps to greatly facilitate the weighing of catalysts, a key step in the MCS project.
Automated dosing – the Quantum leap in the laboratory

You are manually dosing small amounts of valuable substances. You have to handle hazardous compounds. Speed, safety and savings are important issues for you – Thus QUANTOS, the global innovation, is the perfect answer to your needs, because today:
Dosing is automatic, dosing is QUANTOS!
