TA Curve Interpretation

The right interpretation of thermal analysis curves is still an art. A computer will never replace human experience. This session will use typical examples to train you in the systematic interpretation of DSC and TGA curves.

Course Focus

  • Gain a basic understanding of Differential Scanning Calorimetry and Thermogravimetry
  • Separate instrument or operational effects from real sample behavior
  • Interpret common and unusual events:
  • Phase transitions (melting, crystallization, solid-solid)
  • In many types of materials including:
  • Workshop on interpreting unknown curves

Course Designed For

  • Those who perform thermal testing on materials for R&D / QC / QA
  • Persons considering the purchase of a thermal analyzer or who desire a better understanding of the capabilities of an existing instrument
