Analysis of Oil by HPDSC

This lecture-format application seminar is designed to give participants a better understanding of the analysis of hydrocarbon oils by thermal analysis. This course will focus mainly on the oxidative stability of oils using differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and High-Pressure Differential Scanning Calorimetry (HP-DSC).

Course Focus

  • Review of ASTM Test Methods
  • Overview of DSC and HP-DSC
  • Effect of crucible material
  • Effect of pressure
  • Effect of sample mass
  • Proper reporting of results
